4. Secondary Operations
When the component comes out of the furnace, it can be considered completed. However, it generally has to be treated to improve certain characteristics. These treatments are called secondary operations. The most common operation consists of taking the burr off the component to eliminate cutting or sharp edges that can be caused by the powder particles stuck to the smooth surface. Other treatments such as oil impregnation (useful to obtain self-lubricating bushings) or resin impregnation, dipping, machining, assembly, etc. can also be performed.
